My wife and I both enjoyed watching Michael Rassmusen play for the Tri-City Americans when we lived in the Tri-Cities. When Razzy was acquired by the Detroit Red Wings (Rhonda’s favorite NHL team), she had to buy his Detroit Red Wing Jersey. While Razzy hasn’t lit the NHL on fire (being sent back down to the minors several times), I still wanted to own a nice rookie card of his if nothing else for the nostalgia of watching him play in our home town. I love this his rookie card lists his last season with the Tri-City Americans right on the back. Today I was looking for a cheap rookie card and stumbled upon a MUST HAVE for me.
Here is a picture of this beautiful card! I was sold on the look first thing I saw it but then I realized there are only 24 other cards like it (as this is 8/25 cards in existence. And it’s autographed! On top of that, it contains perhaps one of the coolest patches I’ve ever seen. Often a “patch” isn’t all that impressive but this patch comes straight from the center spokes of the Detroit Logo.
And of course there is the back of the card which has that cool shout out to the Tri-City Americans!
I’m not sure how to count this on my hockey trading goal of the year. I don’t intend to “flip” this card but to keep it in my personal collection (unless for some reason it becomes ridiculous NOT to sell it). The card cost me a pretty penny (my most expensive single card I’ve bought to date. It cost me $74.99 plus $7.80 in taxes for a total of $82.79. I’ll probably list it on my spreadsheet thus taking away from my net value at the end of the year but I just really LOVE this card!
